Free Sheet Cut Calculator: get more parts out of every sheet
Cutting floor pans, firewalls, dash panels, brackets or cabinet parts from aluminium, steel, ply or polycarbonate sheet? Enter your part sizes and your sheet size, and the calculator nests the parts to get the most out of each sheet. It's free and you don't need an account.
What it saves you
- Material: parts are nested, and rotated if you allow it, so less expensive sheet ends up as offcut.
- Planning time: a visual cutting layout replaces sketching and measuring on the sheet itself.
- Money: you know how many sheets to buy before you order, with no extra "just in case" sheet.
How it works
- Enter your sheet width and height, blade kerf and edge trim, and pick your units (mm, cm or inches).
- Add each part's width, height, quantity and a label. Tick Allow rotation if grain direction doesn't matter.
- Hit Calculate nesting to see the number of sheets needed, sheet utilisation, waste and a drawn layout of every sheet. Print it or save it as a PDF.
Frequently asked questions
What's the best way to cut panels from a sheet of aluminium with the least waste?
Enter every panel you need into the Sheet Cut Calculator along with your sheet size (for example 2400 x 1200 mm). It lays the panels out to use as few sheets as possible and shows you where each one goes.
Does it allow for kerf and edge trim?
Yes. Enter your blade or cutter kerf and any edge trim, and both are allowed for in the layout.
Can parts be rotated?
Yes. Leave Allow rotation ticked to let parts turn 90 degrees for a better fit, or untick it when grain direction or a brushed finish matters.
Does it handle odd shapes?
It nests rectangular parts. For irregular shapes, work from each part's bounding rectangle, or send us the DXF and we can laser or waterjet cut it.
Is it free?
Yes. It's free to use and you don't need to sign up.
